  1. I thought it was a great speech and had strong points about improving the economy, education, and the outsourcing of jobs. Not all seem completely possible to accomplish soon, but I felt the ideas are solid and I felt comfortable with the address.

  2. I think the obama's speech was very well said for the most part. I think that what he said best was how the United States car manufacturers will be receiving more bonus just because they are American-made. I also thought when he was talking about the Osama bin Laden part, how all the people in the room (Democrat, Republican, etc.) all forgot about their political goal, and worked together to take him down. I thought that besides those two points, the rest could of used a bit more work in them. I felt even more comfortable with the state of the union because of this speech.

  3. I thought the speech was very inspiring. It made me feel patriotic. The high points were his comments about how to change the economy and the outsourcing of jobs. I just couldn't stop wondering what Biden was chewing on through most of the speech.

  4. I think Obama's speech was very good overall. The strong points were probably his achievements despite all the opposition. His weak points were the fact that he had pretty dramatic proposals. The speech made me feel pretty comfortable with the country's status.

  5. I am very impressed with Obama's speech. Although he did not address every issue, it is understandable, because it is near impossible to cover all of that in the short time he had. I think his strong points were definitely about opening up jobs and leveling taxes. He also had some good points on the economy overall. Obama's weak points were basically that his some of his ideas were a little far-fetched. I felt pretty comfortable with the state of the union and feel that our country is in good hands.

  6. I thought the speech was very inspiring. It gave me the chance to know the status of society today. I know that Obama wants to do a lot but he can't do it instantly because all of these plans take a very long time to notice a difference. I appreciate that he memorized his whole speech and it made me feel like he is a somewhat good president because he actually cares about his country and puts it in his responsibilty.

  7. I thought that his speech was great overall and that he adressed alot of the points with great entusiam and that he was very patriotic. I think that his high points were opening up more jobs for people and making the taxes fair. The rest could be worked on a little bit more, but that is ok. I enjoyed how he started with the troops and ended with mentioning the troops, like that is what tied it all togther!

  8. I thought that Obama's speech was overall very successful. He addressed most of the issues of our country and gave great options and solutions to the issues. I thought his strong points are when he addressed the troops returning from Iraq, opening up jobs, leveling taxes, and the economy. His weak points are that some of his solutions seemed unrealistic for the near future. But overall, the speech president obama delivered made me feel more comfortable with the state of the union.

  9. I thought that the speech was very easy to listen to and effortless to understand. The way he spoke was very inspiring and i think that he is an amazing speaker. One of his strongest points was he address to the troops that are home from Iraq, being a huge topic. I also like how he talked about Jackie. I think that talking about a normal American made everyone listening feel a part of his speech. Some of his week points were some his unrealistic views of the future. But overall i really do feel President Obama did an amazing job with his speech. For someone like me, who does not know that much about politics, i felt very comfortable and well informed.

  11. I thought Obama's State of the Union address was very well-spoken and covered many important topics such as American ingenuity and our economy. It gave me hope that America can prosper with home-based companies and a natural, single energy resource. However, I think the goals might have been set to high to be accomplished in the next few years.

  14. In my opinion, Barack Obama's speech was very successful. He delivered the speech effectively and made me feel very comfortable in understanding the current United States global situation. The strong points: Our government needs to adopt the mentality that we, as American citizens, come first. We must take care of our own before the interests of others. Major corporations in America have been steadily farming jobs out of our country for years because the cost of labor is much cheaper, particularly in the manufacturing sector. Automobile assembly lines like those found in Detroit or Flint, Michigan that have historically employed thousands of workers became ghost towns sending middle class Americans into unspeakable poverty. It is the duty of major corporations in this country to bring jobs back to these middle class workers. As an incentive for major corporations to hire domestically, all corporations that hire in the United States should being given tax breaks. On the other end of the spectrum, corporations that contract out of the country should be heavily taxed. Corporate tax reform is a critical step in the process to reform our country’s unemployment situation.Taxes and stiff tariffs need to be placed on foreign exports from countries doing business in America and exploiting our people. We need to invest in products and technologies for the future such as energy whereby we can stop being dependent on countries like Saudi Arabia and Iraq who are holding us for ransom because we need oil and other petroleum products. We must find ways to put people to work producing energy-efficient products that will make America a world leader and give us back control of our own destiny. We need to create new markets for products through American ingenuity. We need to rebuild and rejuvenate manufacturing in this country like the days of Standard Oil, Ford Motor Company, Carnegie, Bethlehem Steel, and Exxon; rather than giving foreign countries all the labor contracts. The corporations that are making billions must give something back to the middle workers on assembly lines making allowing them to flourish, rather than abandoning them like we have seen in the past decade.America needs to take care of its own citizens or this great country will fall victim to the same fate that every other great empire in human history has faced, decline and eventual destruction. The country needs to band together and relinquish its previous title of a leading world class power. Every citizen needs to give their best effort to contribute to the reform. Save America by putting Americans back to work. The alternative is simply an exercise in futility. The weak point of the speech: Obama may have been to direct or up front about immigration laws. There will be very many Hispanic voters in this next election and he may have just lost a lot of votes. Overall, the speech was very fluid. The extended analogy about Osama Bin Ladin was highly effective, and really helped Americans understand that if we want our country to flourish again, it will take everyone working together to reach reform.

  16. Obama did an amazing job with his speech. Everything he said made complete sense and I thought the whole thing was very successful. He covered many important topics such as our horrible economy and American ingenuity. Since he is a very good public speaker, it made it very easy for the audience to comprehend what he was trying to say. I did not receive any weaknesses from Obama. I felt very comfortable and up to speed on whats going on in the world.

  18. President Obama's speech was very well written and well spoken. The strong points included his speech on education and foreign immigration. A weak points included his speech about the removal of soldiers in the war. This speech definitely made me feel more comfortable and secure that our country is in the hands of a responsible man.

  19. Okay i thought President Obama's Speech was well written and very well spoken. I thought he used a lot of great key points to get his points across. Now when people say he hasnt done anything its because if it doesn't affect their lives directly they think he hasnt done anything. And the circumstances he came into can not be fixed overnight which is what people expect.

  21. I feel like America is naive and needs to understand that politicians can't do half of the things that they promise. President Obama is a smart man and can speak well, but he only has 1 more year in office and it would be near impossible for him to do everything he promised. We definetly need education reform, and budget cuts. Those were the strong points. A weak point was foreign immigration and promising more than he can offer. He is more campaigning than being a president now, and he needs to start cracking down and working with congress. I do not feel very comfortable with the state of the union, and people need to start realizing what our country is really heading for. We live in Calabasas where nothing goes wrong, what can I say?

  22. I thought that the State of the Union had many good points as well as points that have been talked about during this Presidency but have not been put into action. Though Obama has done some good for this country, considering the actions Bush took while in office, he has yet to fulfill his key promises to the country. I believe it is due to a few reasons, not just a certain point, that this is the case and I do not fully follow the mindset of President Obama. Instead of seeing him as a person who is meaning to put forth a Bill or an executive order, I see him more as a preacher, one who indeed has good views, but uses these views to rally his people but not to put into action. With all this stated, I do believe there is time for Obama to become a great leader for this country, but time will tell.
